Advent Calendar 2026:
“A Choice of Voices”
[see Isaiah 40]
EcoCongregation Scotland publishes a video Advent Calendar: a snippet of Scripture and a VERY
SHORT reflection to go with it (90 sec max including the verses).
26 ‘days’ starting with Advent 1 29th November, [Franciscan saints] And St Andrew’s Day on 30th.
You are invited to contribute this year: if you accept, this is how to proceed, but please if not, do reply, promptly, as a clear “not this time”: to make space for others. chaplain@ecocongregationscotland/org
===============================================================================================
- This is not a cautious denominational project. Please stick your neck out.
2) Content : be very very very green. This is not a ‘balanced’ project.
It’s also a “stewardship-free zone”. .We won’t use any clip that includes the word “stewardship”, which undermines progress in Christian perception of the climate crisis.
3) Your situation/location is more valuable than abstract reflection.
4) On replying you will then receive a suggested Advent Day and Scripture – You also have the option of doing something completely thematic, about how we approach (Climate) crisis.. OR a creation connection to your church’s patron saint ( Andrew, Columba, Mungo, Ninian,
But get in touch first. We can chat. Now read on.

TECHNICAL:
5) Film yourself reading the scripture, then your reflection : LANDSCAPE FORMAT ONLY , in some really interesting location.
OR against a well-lit, plain, strongly contrasting background, ideally green or blue ..
***I can advise, and sometimes come and do the filming.
6) Please send raw footage only: I will do editing and add effects.
Additional ‘establishing’ shots of landscape etc and close-ups of detail make for very welcome visual interest and help with editing. Send these as well as your “piece to camera” talking head.
7) SOUND: Keep indecently close to the microphone or whatever device you are using, and speak as if you were trying to reach the back row of the church without an amplifier. [Or if you’re a sound expert, just do it nicely] .. ***Waterfalls and high winds require special expertise.
8) Send the video file – as high resolution as you can manage – back to me for editing and messing around with. Use https://wetransfer.com/ for files too big for email. 4K or more is good. The bigger the better.
9) DEADLINES : I need it a good two or three weeks preferably more before your ‘day’ comes up. ASAP is the key.
10) Sending the video implies full permission to edit and creatively present the contents via Facebook, YouTube ,Vimeo, Bluesky. Copyright of your original footage remains your own.
PROMISE: I will aim to make your stuff look & sound great.
If there’s anyone else you think I might fruitfully nobble, please put them in touch
Love & Peace,
