9th-20th November 2026
The United Nations Climate Conference (COP) takes place in Antalya, Turkey, from 9th to 20th November 2026.
Our Eco Chaplain David Coleman encourages us to pray during this time.
“I think it’s vital that Christian do not lose sight, in their prayer, of the unique opportunity which COP still presents, for the hearing of God’s voice in the voices of the marginalised, and the sharing of insights by scientists who observe, objectively, the health of the living Earth.”
As a starting point for daily prayer and reflection we have put together 100 Words for each day of COP 31. Each day starts with a scriptural starting point followed by a brief reflection on the themes of the day.
These daily reflections will also be shared on our Facebook page.
Host a Prayer Gathering
We encourage you to take time to pray in groups, online or individually.
A prayer group from Eco-Congregation members, St Mungo’s Balerno and Livingston, have put together a resource for facilitating a COP focused prayer meeting.
The one-hour meeting template guides you through the three main topics of Equity and Fairness, Finance and Phasing out Fossil Fuels. Each section has background information, scripture, prayers, time for reflection and finishes with a Psalm.
Their website also links to additional prayer resources from previous COPs.
This is a good opportunity to gather others in your church, or friends from across neighbouring churches. The resources can also be adapted for individual intercession.
COP (Conference of the Parties) is a global climate summit held annually under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). It brings together heads of state, ministers, scientists, business leaders, and civil society representatives from around the world to advance collective action to combat climate change.
