Congratulations to Inverleith St Serf’s Parish Church, on their Eco-Congregation Scotland Silver Award.
Earlier this month at their Harvest service, the award was presented by award assessor Sarah Young to members of the Eco Group as they celebrated God’s abundance.
The church was praised for underpinning their actions with worship. Actions include recycling initiatives, repair café, garden projects, support for fair trade and informing members about environmental and social justice issues. Their Silver award follows on from their Bronze which was awarded in 2025.

Some highlights from the assessors’ report:
“Church members are made aware of the need to protect their environment and have developed the lovely garden surrounding the church to encourage bees and butterflies and form a beautiful, refreshing setting for the building, and a place where children can learn. The garden is central to the witness of the church.”
“Involvement in the ‘Ripple effect’ is influencing many aspects of the Spiritual life of the congregation and efforts to help members fully make connections between their faith & actions… resulting in members taking direct action to twin their own gardens.”
Well done to the Eco Group and the wider congregation who are actively demonstrating creation care.
